Located in beautiful Sanya, Hainan, also known as Chinese Hawaii, with warm temperatures even during winter times, Jan had the pleasure of presenting the paper "scE(match): Privacy-Preserving Cluster Matching of Single-Cell Data" on behalf of fellow COMSYS researcher Johannes Lohmöller, who was simultaneously attending BuildSEC '24 in New Delhi, India.
The paper originates from another fruitful collaboration with Dr. Sikander Hayat and Prof. Rafael Kramann and tackles data privacy aspects when matching clusters of single-cell data across institutions. Fueled by homomorphic encryption, scE(match) accounts for both the sensitivity of data and intellectual property (IP) protection. With this work, we hope to foster advances in biomedical research and look forward to seeing it adopted in practice.
Since the conference is still ongoing, promising additional insightful discussions, and also has the official banquet on its agenda, Jan hopes to make it back to Aachen in time for Christmas.
