At the Scientific Advisory Board Meeting of the Internet of Production (Excellence Cluster) of RWTH this month, COMSYS researcher Jan Pennekamp, together with Yannik Lockner (working for the Institute for Plastics Processing (IKV) at RWTH) was awarded with the IoP Young Researcher Award 2022. They were recognized for their work on the topic of "Secure Exchange of Production Parameters". For Jan, this is already the second Young Researcher Award, after being awarded the ICT Young Researcher Award in 2021.
The awarded work also covers a second use case by the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) at RWTH. Jan presented the corresponding paper at ACSAC 2020. Our former student Erik Buchholz worked on the implementation and evaluation as part of his master thesis at COMSYS. He is now a PhD student with Prof. Salil Kanhere at UNSW Syndey in Australia, who is currently visiting our chair.
On the IoP website, you can find a longer news article with information on the award ceremony, as well as the two other teams that were honored (placed 2nd and 3rd).
We congratulate Jan for this success!
